Report by Murray Legg
Bridport Reserves won consecutive games for the first time this season, beating Holt 2-1 at the St Mary’s.
The first half was a match lacking quality in the final third. Both defences were solid which prevented many openings. A shot from Riley Weedon was comfortably watched wide of the visitors goal. A Robin Jones corner was header narrowly wide.
The game came to life in the second half and the Bees were able to enjoy more sustained time in the final third. Noah House and Callum Arnold applied pressure to the defence and their constant running penetrated the backline of Holt. Paul Hill won possession and Ash smith found Callum Arnold who was able to find the right weighted pass for Riley Weedon to slot home first time in the 60th minute. Holt then had their best spell of the game, whilst down to 10 men for a sin-bin. When Bridport were unable to clear from a corner Jack Satterley applied a fine flick finish to level the game.
Bridport made some changes and one of those, Bradley Wilkinson, one the ball back high and released the ball to Riley Weedon - this time he was on the left side of the area and he curled an unstoppable right footed shot into the bottom right corner with 10 minutes to go. The Bees controlled the last moments of the match and were able to secure the much needed and much deserved victory.
