After last week’s tough loss, Bridport FC Ladies were determined to bounce back and return to the kind of form we showed in our first four games. With four of our regular players returning to the squad, we were ready to make an impact, and it showed right from the opening whistle.
The team started strong, with a solid performance across the pitch. Having those familiar faces back in the lineup helped us settle into our rhythm quickly, allowing us to move the ball around confidently and control the game. Clare Darby and Aleeshea Rowland were clinical in front of goal, with the pair netting an impressive nine goals between them.
Maisie Macdonald had plenty of success on the left cutting in to score and some near misses to add.Holly Perryment added to the scoreline with a stunning strike from distance, and Florence Valinski found the back of the net after cutting inside and unleashing a well-placed shot. It was a dominant display, and we knew that boosting our goal difference would be crucial in keeping us competitive in the league race.
Defensively, Jess Denslow and Maisie Macdonald were outstanding. Their link-up play down the left side was a standout feature of the game, creating numerous chances and keeping Wincanton’s attacks at bay. Manager Lianne Dunk was particularly impressed with their partnership and work ethic throughout the match.
