Match Report: Bridport Ladies 3-1 Street Ladies FC

The game began with both teams looking to find their rhythm, but the midfield was congested, making it difficult for either side to put together consistent passing plays. Street Ladies controlled much of the possession during the first half, holding about 60%, but Bridport Ladies stayed resilient.

In the 15th minute, Aleeshea Rowland found space to break through Street's defense. The Street keeper rushed out but missed the ball and clipped Rowland’s right leg. Despite this, no penalty was awarded, and the game moved on.

Bridport’s breakthrough came in the 36th minute. After winning a free kick, Lauren Kick delivered a fantastic ball into the box, and Rowland executed a superb header, chipping the ball over the goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

Just five minutes later, in the 41st minute, Bridport extended their lead. Sophie Northover sent a perfectly placed ball into the box, and after both Rowland and Clare Darby converged on it, Darby got the final touch to make it 2-0.

The second half turned into a hard-fought midfield battle, with Street fighting back. Their persistence paid off around the 60-minute mark, when loose marking allowed them to string together three quick passes from a free kick, resulting in a well-finished goal from their winger, narrowing the score to 2-1.

Sensing Street's growing confidence, manager Lianne reorganized the team to regain control of the match. In the 82nd minute, Bridport sealed the win. Georgie comfortably dealt with a long-range shot and launched the ball directly to Emily Robinson, who sent a dangerous ball towards the Street keeper. Rowland, relentless as ever, pressured the keeper, forcing an error that saw the ball bounce off her and into the net for Bridport’s third goal.

It was a tough match, made more difficult by unnecessary fouls and allowing Street to enjoy periods of dominance. However, Bridport capitalized on their chances, and Rowland’s persistence created the vital third goal, giving the team breathing room. Georgie had little to do in goal, but when called upon, she delivered.

Bridport walked away 3-1 winners, securing their fourth win in four matches. While there were moments when Street looked more comfortable, Bridport's clinical finishing and strong defensive efforts ultimately secured the victory.
