Bridport Ladies surrendered a 3–0 lead to Frome Town on Sunday as the home side
walked away with three points after four goals in the last 35 minutes.
Frome Town Women's FC cored four times in the final 35 minutes to overturn the result in testing wind and rain.
The sides began the day separated by just one point in the table, with both fighting for a win
to move them up the standings.
With this being Bridport’s first match since the end of November following a run of weather
postponements, it took the away side a little longer to settle into the early stages of the
game.
Bridport created the first clear chances, with Laura Tattershall shooting wide from distance
before Lily Pollard forced a save preceded by Tattershall narrowly missing from a tight angle.
The opening goal finally came on 17 minutes when a goal kick by Frome fell to Aleeshea
Rowland, who finished well to put Bridport ahead.
Bridport continued to control much of the first half and doubled the lead when a driven cross
from Pollard was deflected into the net after a passing move involving Maisie Macdonald.
The visitors made it 3–0 on 50 minutes when Lilly Schep won the first header from a throw in
and Laura Tattershall scored from inside the box.
Yet Frome began closing the gap at the 55th minute when scoring through Keira Leigh
Underhill from a corner after Bridport failed to clear.
Underhill went on to convert a penalty and added two further goals, one from another corner
and one with a headed finish, to allow Frome the lead.
The game finished 4-3 to the home side with Bridport unable to find a response in the
closing stages.
