Womens vs Clevedon Town FC Women

Match Report: Bridport FC Women vs Clevedon Town FC Women

Bridport FC Women produced a great all-round performance when faced with Division 3
leaders Clevedon Town, winning 9–0 to progress in the cup.

The Bees started strongly and showed their intent from the beginning of the match with a
high press and quick movement of the ball.

After just four minutes, a well-weighted pass from Lily Pollard released Aleeshea Rowland to
open the scoring, showing exactly the type of move worked on in training.

Six minutes later, Rowland doubled the lead by finishing a free kick from Lauren Kick.
Bridport continued to cause problems for Clevedon’s defence as their direct play and
Rowland’s pace proved difficult to handle, while the visitors showed why they are leading
their division.

Rowland, making only her second appearance since returning from injury, completed her
hat-trick just before half-time with an excellent finish from Clare Darby’s chipped through
ball.

Bridport’s fitness and strong bench made the difference in the second half.
In the 55th minute, Pollard scored her first goal for the club after Darby met another
dangerous free kick from Kick.

Rowland then added her fourth three minutes later before Darby made it six on 65 minutes,
reacting quickly to a rebound from the goalkeeper.

Both sides picked up yellow cards as the midfield battle remained competitive.
Confusion struck in the 74th minute when Holly Perryment appeared to score for Bridport,
yet play continued.

Perryment quickly made sure to secure the seventh by setting up Florence Valinski, who
added to the scoreline, before Perryment added two goals of her own in the closing stages,
the last coming from a Sophie Northover free kick.

It was a complete team performance full of energy, teamwork and confidence, highlighted by
Rowland’s four-goal display.

With a performance of this quality, Bridport can take great confidence into the next round
and the rest of the season.
