Match Report

BRIDPORT came from two goals behind to beat Okehampton Argyle 3-2 in the South West Peninsula League on Saturday

(Report by Andy Jones - The Bridport and Lyme News)

It was not the start Chris Herbst side would have wanted though as the hosts ran into a 2-0 lead after 25 minutes, laving the Bees boss 'absolutely fuming'.

Okehampton's goal scorers Dominic Harnell and Tyler Little both exposed the Bees back line in similar fashion as they latched on to long ball's over the top before forcing keeper Jordan Scadding into saves.

Both players were able to tuck home the rebounds though as Bridport trailed by two goals despite dominating proceedings.

George Calverley began the come back just before the half hour mark with a stunning free kick that nestled into the back of the net from 25 yards.

Herbst admitted giving his team a 'rollocking' at half time and his players reactd well as they came back to claim all three points.

Substitute Leon Wood made an instant impact as he drilled home a strike from the edge of the box with 20 minutes to go after the ball bounced out to him from a corner.

Riley Weedon then secured the points moments later in similar fashion as he fired through a sea of bodies from just inside the box - again from a Bees corner.

After the game, Herbst expressed his frustration at the team falling behind but was pleased with his players reaction and second half performance.

He said: "I was absolutely fuming. It was one of those where we were on top and then we go and conceded.

"I told the players at half-time they can't give cheap goals away.
"If they carve us open with a good bit of play, then fair play, but we have to stop conceding silly goals it's not good enough.

"But I knew we were in control and would score Isaac House and Tony Pinder had chances too and we should have scored ,more but it was good to get the win.

"We made changes in the second half to the formation and went more attacking and it worked and I was pleased but it was never a 3-2 game and that is something we need to work on."
